How long has the Diablo II Realm been around?

The Diablo II Realm has been around in the Diablo II community since May 1998. It started out as a small page back on Geocities (unbelievable, no? =). It had a framed layout which I didn't like very much, but it was easy to handle. About one month after the foundation of the site, the realm moved to Gamepost: a host that showed a lot of promise. In August of 1998, the realm moved to a subdomain at Warzone (now known as the GameFan Network), and later settled down at its own domain at www.d2realm.com.

Was this your first web page?

No. I have been involved with web pages since early January of 1998. I had a Starcraft site called "Demandred's Starcraft Page", hosted by Geocities. The page received a loftily 40 hits a day, mainly because the other sites never gave me a chance to get any sort of recognition. One of the vowes I've made with this site is to always give other sites a chance, since I know what it's like to start a new page and hop into the hoard of other pages.

While the very first page may have been a "failure", it was the beginning; and everybody has to start from someplace.

I have a site.. will you announce it for me?

I'll do what ever I can to help you start your site. Obviously, I can't go on announcing eight new sites a day, but if you believe your site is unique in some way, you can always mail the webmasters and ask them for a favor to announce your arrival into the community.

Would you like to be affiliated with my site?

No. At this point, all our affiliates are taken up. If there ever is a spot to be filled, we will mail the web master of the other site and invite him to participate. Please do not ask unless you feel you have a viable reason to.

Would you please announce...?

Of course: as long as it's reasonable. We will announce anything that shows us it deserves to be announced. What that means is that you can't just put up any old web page and then expect it to earn our acclaim - you have to have something unique in some way, to show to the community. We love announcing other peoples work - just make sure its at good enough quality before you ask us.

Will you host my site?

Currently, we are not looking for any more sites to add to our network. We do make exceptions, but only for high, high quality web sites. If you run an original site that specializes in something we don't provide, then by all means, mail us an application and we'll consider hosting you. We are not looking for news sites, or guilds - only sites that specialize in something unique.

Can you add my link?

Our "Elite Sites" links page is selected - you are welcome to ask to be added, though make sure your site is completed before you ask. Please do not ask for a button exchange, because we will be forced to answer with the same response.

How much time do you put into this page?

Far too much =) Web sites take up a huge amount of time, and the Diablo II Realm is no exception. Sometimes I've found myself spending an entire day working on a new layout, or a specific section. It may sound like a lot, but it never seems like much to me since I enjoy it so much. The Diablo II Realm is my hobby, and like any hobby, it requires time and attention. I've never felt that the site was not worth my time - I enjoy it far too much.

Can I submit my art to your Fan Art Section?

You can indeed! Our Fan Art Gallery wouldn't be what it is now without you! Just send it in to Mordeth@d2realm.com. As long as the quality of the art is good and it is relative to Diablo II, expect to see your picture as a part of one of our weekly doses of fan art.

How can I respond to something I saw on the site?

The best way to respond to things we do on the site.. is to tell us! Seriously. If there's something you felt was good, or bad, or anything: we'd love to know. You can mail me, Mordeth, at Mordeth@d2realm.com, or mail the entire staff, at feedback@d2realm.com.

Can I have your ICQ number?

No. I've got too many people on my list as it is, and because I'm so busy, I'm never on anyways. It's best to contact me over email.

Can I have your news script?

No. Absolutely not. Our news script is a private script, and releasing it's source would compromise security. There are hundreds upon hundreds of free-updating scripts you can find over the internet. A little searching and you'll find one that suits you.

Can I copy such and such from your site?

I can't stop you if you copy ideas from our site, but I won't be happy with your actions. I think the best sites are the sites that innovate. If you copy ideas from us, your no longer innovating.

How do you join the fansite program?

You'd be amazed how many people ask me this from day to day. It's a simple answer: mail Blizzard, and ask if you can join. I've got nothing to do with the process =).
